Clint Black to Debut Comedy Skills on CBS Show

Country music superstar Clint Black is about to showcase anther skill set when he debuts his comedy routine on the new television show, SECRET TALENTS OF THE STARS, premiering live Tuesday April 8th (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/tape delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.

While Black is no stranger to performing in front of thousands of people, doing a comedy routine is an entirely different animal. To prepare for his television debut as a comedian, Black enlisted the advice of pals like Kevin Nealon and Eric Idle, and also warmed up by making three unannounced visits to comedy club Zanies in Nashville. Black wrote all of the material himself, and the audience greeted the special guest comedian warmly, and more importantly, laughed loudly during his routines.

"Preparing for the television show has been a really satisfying, and at the same time, nerve wracking, experience for me," Black said "I love comedy and hang out with a lot of funny people, and no matter what I'm doing-- whether it be recording, performing live or writing -- I like injecting a little humor into every situation. I think I possibly sometimes drive my family and friends crazy with my one liners and jokes-- so it's good to have another audience for me to do my routine for! The best thing about comedy-- like concerts-- is performing for a live audience. It's what I've always enjoyed and what I live for."

As announced earlier this week, John O'Hurley ("Seinfeld," "Dancing With the Stars," "Family Feud") will host the show. Legendary entertainer Debbie Reynolds, Grammy-nominated singer Brian McKnight and Emmy-nominated television and film producer Gavin Polone are set to judge the weekly performances.

Each week, celebrities will compete in a tournament-structured format to determine who has the best unknown talent. Each performer on SECRET TALENTS OF THE STARS will fulfill his/her dream by practicing, and then performing live, many supported by a headline production troupe. Each performance will be critiqued by Reynolds, McKnight and Polone -- but it's the viewers who get to vote for the celebrity that impresses them the most. Each week, the "Viewer Vote" will determine which celebrities move on in the competition, and who will go home.
